A Satellite Industry First!
Mobile Telesystems, Inc. achieves 384 Kbps multimedia applications and
video with the TCS-7700 Ultra-B, Inmarsat B terminal!
By integrating multiple TCS-7700 Ultra-B, Inmarsat B satellite terminals, MTI has successfully accomplished a demonstration of high bandwidth streaming video via Inmarsat. This one-of-a-kind capability integrates multiple 64 Kbps channels to achieve new heights in Inmarsat scalability.
The project undertaken, combined multiple MTI TCS-7700 Inmarsat B terminals with MTI's proprietary know-how which would break the composite video output of a VTC (Video Teleconferencing) signal into several 64 Kbps channels. The multiple video streams would then be transmitted via MTI's TCS-7700, Inmarsat B satellite terminals and recombined at the receiving site. The result was a high-throughput transmission of up to 384 Kbps of live video and/or data featuring high-resolution video reception. The video quality is equivalent to that which could be transmitted over terrestrial ISDN lines.
This 'bandwidth-on-demand' through the use of the MTI TCS-7700 Ultra-B, affords greater use of the 'economic and reliable' Inmarsat B service and technology. The global reach of the 'deployable enterprise' and remote LAN/WAN connectivity is now achievable through this scalable, 'building-block' approach made possible by Mobile Telesystems, Inc.
