Optical Scientific, Inc. (OSI)* was founded in 1985. We are a research, development, engineering and manufacturing firm located in the I-270 high technology corridor outside of Washington, DC. Our neighbors include: IBM, Lockheed Martin, Hughes Network Systems, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

We are constantly developing innovations to meet the complex measurement, data collection, and communications demands of the 21st century. For more than twenty years we have met these needs by engaging in a rigorous research and development program. Our name is synonymous with advanced optical instrumentation. Our sensors and systems reliably serve customer's needs at airports, along highways, at railroad tracks, on ocean-going buoys, smelters, power plants, refineries,  and hundreds of other commercial and industrial sites.
